gordongroup is proud to have helped Hydro Ottawa, a major client, win an important sector award recently for work we did on their behalf.
Hydro Ottawa submitted the projects for consideration for the provincial Electrical Safety Authority’s (ESA) 2014 Ontario Electrical Safety Awards, and won the top prize in the Consumer and Home Safety category.
Susan Barrett, Hydro Ottawa’s Manager of Communications, said: “The ‘Bright Ideas’ contest and subsequent rebrand of our Electricity Safety and Conservation program material was a key part of the work that earned us this award, and I would like to extend my thanks to gordongroup.”
Bright Ideas was a contest Hydro Ottawa ran within the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board during the 2013-14 school year. gordongroup developed the contest brand, format and materials from end to end in partnership with the service provider. Hydro Ottawa hoped to engage not only young students but their families in the conversation about safety and conservation, so we based the contest around worksheets filled with facts, tips and activities to be completed at home with the help of parents.
The centerpiece was the Bright Ideas contest website. Our digital team developed an interactive platform for both students and teachers, including a digital version of the home energy audit.
The contest was a smashing success, with a huge turnout of over 330 students from OCDSB schools participating, and Hydro Ottawa now plans to run Bright Ideas annually.
“Developing a contest from the ground up involves many moving parts, and the whole team came together to meet the creative challenge,” said Howard Whittaker, gordongroup partner. “We’re very pleased with the results and with our great working relationship with Hydro Ottawa, and the ESA award validates our shared success.”
